Are you finding it hard to stay with this journaling thing? Do you struggle with knowing what to write about or even to be inspired to keep going? Frustrating – right? The problem may not about the act of journaling or not gaining anything from it. It could just be that you haven’t identified WHY you want to journal. There are a couple of reasons you need to figure out why you are journaling.
Focus
You have to identify your focus. Now if you buy a journal for example for goal setting that would be your focus and therefore your why. Because journaling is comprised of so many different areas if you don’t have a specific focus you won’t stay engaged. You will quit and that beautiful journal you purchased will become a relic. When you are clear on your WHY it provides direction so you know what you will journal about.
Benefit
Knowing your Why, help you see the benefits specific to you. If you don’t know what you want to accomplish or get out of it then you will just be wasting time. This is sure to increase your frustration level. Also the results or benefits you want will most likely be different from the next person. Maybe your friend or family member journals. They might be interested in the law of attraction and you might be interested in recording your dreams. This is why it is so important to know your Why.
Makes Journaling A Habit
If journaling becomes routine it will become a habit. That’s when you can review your writing and reflect on your growth. It will become a ritual that you won’t even have to think about just like your other habits. Good or bad they are pretty much on auto pilot. Everyone has many habits that you engage without evening processing them, from washing your face daily, brushing your teeth to places you may go for lunch weekly.
Journaling will have the same effect.
Keep Yourself Motivated With Journaling
Journaling has the opportunity to be just like New Year’s resolutions. Flawed. People start out saying with vigor that they are going to do this and that. However, by February most have fallen off the ship, and those resolutions have drowned in the river of life. The absence of motivation because of not understanding their Why is the same reason people just give up on journaling. People give up journaling before they realize the benefits of it. But baby, when you are clear on your purpose for journaling, you won’t be able to keep enough of those journals around, to jot it all down and being motivated to journal will be a life changing habit.
