Journals have been my friend since I was about 10 years of age. During that time journal type books were referred to as a ‘Diary”, with a key lock to keep it secure and safe from prying eyes. Whenever I had a thought, it just had to be written down. There was a fever in my hands and I habitually did a brain dump that resulted in numerous stories, poetry, and visual descriptions. So writing was a way for me to get out of my head, be creative, solve problems, and have a voice. I wrote about the days activities, shenanigans and such. It was a way for me to express my secret thoughts, talk to people on paper who I may have not wanted to communicate with face to face. Reading fueled my desire to jot, and write everything down.
Fast forward – Having already self-published a book with my husband, in 2002, and some kindle books, it wasn’t a difficult step to do more. I must admit I became a journal addict, such that I would sneak them into the house the same way a person would, with a shoe addiction. Yes, I have purchased all types of journals, for lots of purposes.
Life was full and busy. I needed to organize my thoughts, ideas, and everything else. I searched store shelfs and online for different types of journals, but did not find exactly what I was looking for. So, I scoured the internet to find out how I could learn to create my own journals and notebooks.
I wanted items texture and personality. I learned how to design and create my own covers, layout pages, create pdfs, printing options, use different software, and on and on. All of my journals and notebooks has a reason why it was created. If needed they come with a ‘How To Use” section and are easy to use.
So, why are you wanting to learn about journaling? Everything you say. Then you are in the right place. Join me on this special journey of putting our voice in print. Finally, my hope is that ‘Dare To Journal’ will guide you to a fuller, magnificent life. Come back often as you want. You are always welcomed.
The starting point of discovering who you are, your gifts, your talents, your dreams, is being comfortable with yourself. Spend time alone. Write in a journal.
